Excellent deep dive into ESPN’s decision making during recent sports rights negotiations.

There was a significant debate on the merits of spending $12.6b for NBA rights through 2025.

The annual cost is $1.4b per year which was close to 3X the annual cost for the previous deal even though subscribers had fallen to 96mfrom 100m in 2011.
