From ESPN to Monumental Sports Network: what does the future of sports broadcasting look like?

By May 7, 2018No Comments

Long read (2k+ words) on the role companies like Monumental Sports Network are playing in the future of sports broadcasting.

Monumental Sports Network is a digital based media platform for the Washington area teams (NBA, NHL, WNBA and AFL, with an NBA G-League team on the way).

Our thought. Direct to consumer is the long-term future (MLB At Bat, etc.) for sports leagues and teams.

No major changes until current sports rights deals expire:
1) MLB — 2021
2) NFL — 2021
3) NBA — 2024–25
4) College Football Playoff — 2025
