MacGyver Is Back on the Job — Networks See Their Future in Their Past

By December 12, 2018No Comments
Recent remakes on broadcast TV:

1) MacGyver (CBS)
2) Hawaii Five-0 (CBS)
3) Magnum P.I. (CBS)
4) Murphy Brown (CBS)
5) Will & Grace (NBC)
6) The Connors/Roseanne (ABC)

Why this is happening: Broadcast networks need to appeal to a broader audience and these reboots have an audience who historically tuned in.

Older audiences are making up a higher share of viewership.

Are the reboots working? Overall TV ratings are down 11%YoY and reboots are not fairing much better with a show such as Murphy Brown ranking 43rd amongst entertainment shows.
