Which Senate Ads Reached More Swing Voters in September?

Overall, the Democrats mostly maintained their TV stronghold in the month of September. However, huge GOP efforts in OH and MT helped them improve upon August’s performance. Let’s get into it.

Below, we show you how both sides have been able to reach swing voters in the key Senate battleground states in the month of September. The data represents all candidate and PAC TV bought for the Senate races, specifically measured against swing voters.

Impressions:

  • Dems delivered 9% more TV impressions to swing voters across the seven battleground states (440M to 403M).
  • Outside of OH, the Dems have out-delivered the GOP by 43%.

Reach & Frequency:

  • Dems held reach advantages in all but two states – OH and MT.
  • The biggest frequency gap came in AZ where the Dems delivered a 119% higher average frequency.
  • The average Ohio swing voter reached on TV saw 157 Pro-GOP Senate ads in September (~5 per day).

Which Senate ads did swing voters see?

  • In AZ, MI, and WI the Dems were able to reach 4% of swing voters exclusively.
  • TV reach capped out at 56% of swing voters in PA.
