Which Presidential Candidate Reached More Swing Voters in September?

By October 8, 2024No Comments

Two debates behind us, and seemingly none ahead, we still have 28 days and a lot of TV advertising between now and election day.

Below, we’ll look at how both sides have been able to reach swing voters in the seven key battleground states in the month of September. The data represents all candidate and PAC TV bought for the presidential election, specifically measured against swing voters.

Impressions:

  • Team Harris delivered 39% more TV impressions to swing voters across the seven competitive states (611M vs 440M).
  • That gap was especially present in NV, where Team Harris out-delivered Team Trump by 69%.
  • September saw a 13% increase in total TV impressions from August (1.05B vs 931M)

Reach & Frequency:

  • Team Harris held reach and frequency advantages in all seven battleground states in September.
  • The biggest gap in frequency came in NV, where Team Harris delivered a 62% higher average frequency.
  • The highest frequency came in MI, where the average swing voter reached on TV saw just over 4 pro-Harris ads per day.

Which candidate’s ads did swing voters see?

  • Across the board, swing voters are mostly seeing ads from both parties, but in many states TV is still leaving ~50% of swing voters unreached.
