We have an entirely different Presidential race than we did just two months ago. Although Harris was officially made the Democratic candidate just last month, both parties had already been in an advertising arms race on TV.
Below, we show you how both sides have been able to reach (or not reach) swing voters in the seven key battleground states. The data represents all candidate and PAC TV bought for the presidential election in the month of August, specifically measured against swing voters.
Impressions:
- Team Trump delivered 24% more TV impressions to swing voters across the seven competitive states (515M to 416M).
- PA and MI are being heavily contested from both sides.
Reach & Frequency:
- Although Team Harris held small reach advantages in 6 states, Team Trump significantly out-delivered on frequency.
- In NC, Team Trump delivered more than double the average ad frequency to swing voters compared to Team Harris.
Which candidate’s ads did swing voters see?
- Across the board, TV ads from both sides mostly reached the same swing voters. TV ads only reached more than 50% of swing voters in two states – Pennsylvania and Michigan.
